This transaction, supported by new and existing shareholders, will enable the company to accelerate business growth, consolidate the scale and quality of our production, create opportunities in new markets, and launch new developments and solutions for our clients.
Today, ALGAplus is the European leader in organic seaweed cultivation in aquaculture systems in tanks/raceways implemented in coastal areas, with around 40 tons of fresh algae being cultivated and processed annually at its facilities, certified to international food safety standards.
The business volume is primarily generated in the Food and Cosmetics industries, exporting over 75% to 20 countries worldwide.
The growing consumer interest in natural, sustainable, healthy, and clean label products is vast and global. Due to population growth and increasing environmental threats, sustainable sources of food and biomaterials, preferably from renewable marine resources, are on the rise. Seaweed is a versatile marine resource used in almost all economic sectors; ALGAplus’s dream is to make cultivated European seaweed available and affordable for industry and consumers, ensuring a sustainable, high-quality, and reliable supply.
A new phase begins in the life of ALGAplus with the same team that has been driving the business, supported by the following shareholders: Abreu Family, Palmaria, CODIF Technologie Naturelle, Fiag Holding, and Sapec Portugal SGPS.
